The Chief
Editor of the Setswana Dictionary at the Setswana National Lexicography Unit
(SEFALA) had the honour of serving as a guest lecturer for second-year students
enrolled in SETM 221 at North West University, Mahikeng Campus on Wednesday, 22
July 2026.
The lecture
focused on phonology, with particular emphasis on the third section, Diphetogamedumo
and Kemofatso in particular. The session provided students with valuable
insights into the theoretical aspects of Setswana phonology, drawing on the
Chief Editor's extensive knowledge and experience in lexicography and language
development.
This
engagement reflects SEFALA's continued commitment to supporting higher
education and promoting the advancement of the Setswana language through
collaboration with academic institutions. Such initiatives strengthen the
relationship between the University and SEFALA while enriching students'
learning experiences through interaction with experts in the field.
